The crewmembers on the #31 R&D Racing ARCA Truck and #27 Tim Gullatta Motorsports Super Late Model rarely get enough praise for the countless hours they put in behind the scenes.  They will do whatever it takes to get the job done without recognition or fanfare.                                                                      

                                                    - Nick Gullatta

Nick Gullatta is a third generation racer from Cleveland, Ohio.  After graduating high school, he entered the US Navy, where he served as an aviation electronics technician, responsible for troubleshooting F/A 18’s and A-7 aircraft.  After his Naval service, he earned a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron.  During his college career, he raced 410 Sprints, Late Models, Vintage Sprint Cars and a variety of road-race cars.

 

   

Nick was an instrumental part of the University of Akron’s 1999 National Championship Formula SAE® Team

 

 

 

 

Currently, Nick is a Performance Test Driver and Development Engineer for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, certified in Ultra-High Performance limit handling involving test speeds in excess of 100 mph.  His recent driving responsibilities have included tire development on the Ford GT and Shelby GT 500.  

  
 
Nick is widely recognized as a top level driver with exceptional race savvy, car control and technical feedback, and is comfortable with competitors and sponsors alike. Look for Nick to be a major driving force in the upcoming 2007 season as he challenges for the ALWTS Championship with R&D Racing.  

Gullatta Family Racing History

Nick’s father, Tony, drove Late Models in the greater Cleveland, Ohio area and was Rookie of the Year in the Late Model Division at Cloverleaf Speedway. Tony has competed at Lorain, Canton, Midvale and other area tracks
Nick’s grandfather,Tony Sr., owned several cars that raced under the MARC banner at SportsmanPark in Bedford, Ohio in the 1950s. In addition, Nick has several family members who race and own cars.
